The Brazilian attacker has appeared 16 times this season but is still chasing his first goal. Notably, many of his appearances have been short — he has only started in four games.
He has struggled to secure a place under Xabi Alonso and the chances of him needing to find a new club are gradually rising.
Reports have connected him with Chelsea and Arsenal, but these rumors can be ruled out for now. Neither club currently includes him on their list for the upcoming year.
Sources believe that if Rodrygo were to move to England, Manchester City would be the most probable destination — although Liverpool and Tottenham might also become contenders for his signature.
At present, a January transfer seems unlikely. Spanish sources indicate it’s more likely Rodrygo will stay at Madrid for the remainder of the season.
He has always aimed to better his situation and remains committed to not giving up. Competing with players like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, Franco Mastantuono and Arda Guler is proving to be just as tough as expected.
Madrid are also expected to reintegrate Nico Paz, creating another challenge for Rodrygo to face.
If he eventually departs, it’s understood Rodrygo is willing to test himself in the Premier League, which is seen as the most likely next step for him.
The key question is where.
Manchester City could still be a real option. The club has been tracking him for the past year and continues to consider a signing that would add extra firepower to their attack. They are also looking at Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, but Rodrygo might also fit into Pep Guardiola’s plans.
Tottenham are ready to show strong ambition and would welcome him as a marquee signing.
Liverpool would be interested in evaluating the situation, but their plans remain uncertain as they address their on-field challenges. Therefore, sources cannot yet forecast their long-term attacking strategy.
Rodrygo remains a high-profile talent spending too much time on the bench — yet for now, a January change in his circumstances still seems unlikely.
