Xuân Son is on the verge of achieving a very impressive scoring milestone after over five years competing in Vietnam.
Xuân Son recently grabbed everyone's attention by scoring a hat-trick, netting all three goals to help Nam Định defeat Shan United in the Southeast Asia Club Cup. This marked the debut of the naturalized Vietnam national team striker in the Shoppe Cup, where he immediately made a huge impact with three remarkable goals.
These three goals also pushed Xuân Son’s total tally since moving to Vietnam close to 100. Specifically, he has scored 91 goals combining club and national team matches since arriving in Vietnam in 2020. Nearly 100 goals in over five years, despite missing almost a year due to injury, demonstrates his extremely consistent scoring form.
At the club level, Xuân Son has scored 52 goals for Nam Định, 6 for SHB Đà Nẵng, 25 for Bình Định, and 8 for the Vietnam national team (7 of which came in the AFF Cup 2024). Just 9 more goals will see him officially reach 100 goals since coming to Vietnam.
After returning from a 10-month serious injury, Xuân Son has played 3 matches and scored 4 goals. He scored again in the Vietnam vs Laos match, did not score in Nam Định’s victory over Long An in the National Cup, and just recorded a hat-trick in his Shoppe Cup debut.
After the match, Xuân Son was honored as the best player.Briefly addressing the fans, the Vietnam national team striker said:"Hello everyone. I’m very happy to be back with the team. Even better that I scored and the team won. Let’s look forward to the next match. Go, Thép Xanh Nam Định!"
In a tough match for Nam Định, Xuân Son shone brilliantly with a hat-trick to help his team secure a 3-0 victory. Watching him play, fans seemed to forget he had just returned from a severe injury that sidelined him for nearly a year.
