On July 20, Beijing time, the Trail Blazers officially announced that the team has signed a multi-year contract with Lillard. According to previous reports from Shams, this is a three-year, $42 million contract. The Trail Blazers' official Twitter account shared a poster welcoming Lillard back home, captioned: "Back to the starting point." Shams reported that Lillard is expected to miss the 2025-26 season due to an Achilles injury and will return in the 2026-27 season.


As a nine-time All-Star and seven-time All-NBA selection, Lillard is returning to Portland—where he spent the first 11 seasons of his legendary NBA career. Previously, he was selected as an All-Star in both of his seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, playing in 131 games (all as a starter), averaging 35.7 minutes per game, with 24.6 points, 7.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals.

Lillard hails from Weber State University and was selected by the Trail Blazers as the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. During his 11 seasons in Portland, he played in 769 regular-season games, averaging 36.3 minutes per game, scoring 25.2 points (with a shooting percentage of 43.9%, a three-point percentage of 37.2%, and a free throw percentage of 89.5%), along with 6.7 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.0 steals.

He is a member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team, won the NBA Best Teammate Award in 2021, the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2013, and was selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2013.
During Lillard's tenure with the Trail Blazers, the team made the playoffs eight times, reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2019 and the Western Conference Semifinals in 2016 and 2014. Additionally, Lillard represented the USA Men's National Basketball Team and won a gold medal at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.
