At 19:35 on January 13th, in the 14th round of the 2025/2026 CBA regular season, Liaoning lost 70-86 at home to Qingdao, marking their second straight loss.

In the first quarter, Weatherspoon scored a layup and was fouled, completing a 2+1 play as Qingdao started with a 3-0 lead. Wells’ strong layup broke the deadlock for Liaoning. Weatherspoon’s shots both inside and outside helped Qingdao extend the lead. Fu Hao made consecutive free throws, quickly tying the score for Liaoning. Afterwards, the main foreign players Wells and Weatherspoon performed steadily, with the score tied multiple times. After Wells completed a 2+1, Li Xiaoxu hit a big two-pointer, and Liaoning ended the quarter leading 20-18.

In the second quarter, Weatherspoon went to the free-throw line twice, allowing Qingdao to take the lead. Li Huyi and Wells attacked both inside and outside, giving Liaoning a 4-point advantage again. Wells and Fu Hao kept up offensive pressure, and foreign player Hunter broke his scoring drought, helping Liaoning maintain a slight lead. Qingdao stayed close, and with Lv Junhu’s corner three-pointer, the score was tied at 36. By halftime, Liaoning led 38-37, with Wells scoring a team-high 18 points.

In the third quarter, Duan Angjun hit a clean three-pointer to tie the game for Qingdao. Wells scored both inside and outside, and Yan Shouqi also made a three-pointer, helping Liaoning keep the lead. Weatherspoon, Lv Junhu, and Mickey all scored for Qingdao, who then went on an 11-0 run to take a 60-50 lead. Wells stopped the bleeding with a pull-up jump shot, but Lv Junhu’s outside shooting kept Qingdao ahead 66-56 at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Lv Junhu and Mickey scored consecutively, pushing Qingdao’s lead to 10 points. Despite Wells’ persistent efforts, Qingdao played more steadily, with Wang Yibo, Lv Junhu, and Weatherspoon all contributing points. Qingdao extended their lead to 81-66, a 15-point advantage. With little time remaining, the outcome was decided early. Ultimately, Liaoning lost to Qingdao 70-86.
