Five Cavaliers score over 20 points! Revenge ends Timberwolves' 4-game winning streak; Mitchell scores 28, Huazi 25

On January 11th Beijing time, the NBA regular season continued. Mitchell scored 28 points, and the Cavaliers seized control in the latter half to beat the Timberwolves 146-134, ending their rival’s 4-game winning streak and avenging their defeat from two days prior.

In this matchup, Mitchell hit 4 three-pointers, while the Cavaliers saw five players scoring 20 or more points for only the second time in franchise history. Mobley contributed 24 points, Tyson added 23 off the bench, Garland scored 22, and Merril posted 20 points, setting a team record by making at least five three-pointers in four consecutive games.

Statistics show that the last time the Cavaliers had five players each scoring at least 20 points was on March 15, 1972, against the Baltimore Bullets.

The 146 points scored ranks fourth on the Cavaliers’ all-time single-game regular season scoring list. Previously, on November 8, the team scored 148 points, winning by 33 against the Wizards.

The Cavaliers, who have won 5 of their last 7 games, shot 55 of 92 from the field in this game, achieving a season-high shooting percentage of 59.2%; from beyond the arc, they made 15 of 31 attempts.

For the Timberwolves, Edwards and Reid each scored 25 points, while Randle added 20. Two days earlier, the Timberwolves had defeated the Cavaliers 131-122. Despite the loss, the Timberwolves shot impressively, hitting 51 of 89 attempts for a 57.3% shooting rate, also a season high.

In the first quarter, the lead changed hands 10 times with one tie, before the Timberwolves pulled ahead to close the quarter leading 47-35. The Cavaliers began their comeback late in the first half, trailing 63-65 at halftime.

However, midway through the third quarter, the Cavaliers went on a 12-0 run in just 2 minutes and 18 seconds to take the lead. During this surge, Merril made two three-pointers and Mobley completed two dunks. With 6 minutes left in the third, Jarrett Allen’s floater put the score at 82-73. Allen finished with 16 points, marking the Cavaliers’ 11th game this season with all five starters scoring in double figures. Ultimately, the Cavaliers defeated the Timberwolves.
