On January 5th, during the CBA regular season, Shanghai hosted Guangsha and won decisively 99-77. This victory marked Shanghai's seventh straight win and ended Guangsha's run of eight consecutive wins.

For Shanghai, Li Hongquan scored 18 points with 8 rebounds and 4 assists, Lofton added 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, Zhang Zhenlin contributed 16 points, Goodwin had 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists, Wang Zhelin posted 11 points and 7 rebounds, and Whiteside scored 10 points with 6 rebounds. Guangsha's Hu Jinqiu led with 22 points, Sampson had 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals, Tucker added 14 points and 5 assists, and Zhao Yanhao contributed 12 points and 2 blocks.

In the first quarter, Sun Minghui hit a mid-range jumper, Tucker made a long-range shot, and Hu Jinqiu scored an easy layup; Lofton continuously attacked, leading to a 7-7 tie early on. In the final quarter, Zhang Zhenlin combined inside and outside to score 6 straight points, Xie Liyongwei nailed a three-pointer, Wang Zhelin scored aggressively under the basket, and Li Hongquan hit another three-pointer, pushing Shanghai to an 86-67 lead. Shanghai kept control of the game afterward and secured the victory as expected.
