In the first quarter, Wells and Morland combined to score 4 points, giving Liaoning an early 4-0 lead. Moore and Wilson scored consecutively with free throws to tie the game at 8-8. Fu Hao and Morland unleashed their offense, Brown hit a catch-and-shoot three-pointer, and Liaoning quickly pulled ahead. After Jiang Yuxing stole the ball and scored a layup, Liaoning led 23-16.
