Soap opera drama! Former Lakers player Wood accuses ex-girlfriend of hiring a hitman to kill him, she even told their son he was dead.

On January 2nd Beijing time, court records obtained by Us Weekly show that former Los Angeles Lakers forward Wood accuses his ex-girlfriend Yasmin Lopez of participating in a daylight attempted home robbery and murder targeting him. After the charges, Wood received temporary sole custody of their 2-year-old son, Kobe Shawn Wood.

On November 19, 2025, Wood filed for a temporary restraining order, claiming Lopez may have planned a home invasion robbery at his Los Angeles residence on November 5 with the intent to kill him. He stated Lopez repeatedly threatened to take his life and even threatened to tell their son he was dead. Wood also noted Lopez’s history of violence; in August 2023, she allegedly broke into and vandalized his home, forcing police to remove her from the scene.

The NBA player also pointed out that an hour before the incident, Lopez posted a suspicious message on social media quoting violent lyrics from rapper Kim Von about hiring hitmen, accompanied by gun emojis. Wood said the timing of the post, recent threatening remarks from Lopez’s family, and her knowledge of his residence convinced him of her involvement. Additionally, no similar robbery reports had been made within a 10-mile radius of his home before.

On the day of the incident, November 5, Wood was home alone when he heard noises and discovered three masked men attempting to force entry through the back door. He fired shots at the ground to scare them off, and the intruders fled in a vehicle without stealing anything. No arrests have been made in connection with this attempted robbery so far.

The Los Angeles court approved Wood’s temporary restraining order, requiring Lopez to stay at least 100 yards away from him and their son. The judge also awarded Wood temporary sole legal and physical custody of Kobe based on the allegations and Lopez’s prior interference with custody arrangements. Lopez denies involvement in the break-in and contests Wood’s sole custody. On December 12, 2025, she filed a restraining order against Wood, accusing him of physical abuse including punching, kicking, slapping, choking during disputes, and preventing her from taking their son away on Valentine’s Day 2024. The court also granted her request.

Lopez is an Instagram influencer and reality TV personality with multiple legal records. In February 2024, she was arrested for illegally entering Wood’s property by climbing over the fence and scratching his then-girlfriend’s car with a key. Lopez later publicly admitted to the act, stating she served jail time and is undergoing psychological treatment. In March of the same year, the court issued a three-year restraining order against Lopez regarding Wood.

In May 2024, Lopez failed to appear in court as required, resulting in Wood obtaining full custody of Kobe. Lopez was then only allowed supervised visitation for three hours weekly under court-appointed supervision. The custody arrangement also barred her from having any private contact with Wood.

Lopez also has children with other well-known athletes. She gave birth to a 4-year-old son named Josen Alexander Diggs with Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs in August 2021. Their relationship sparked public controversies due to infidelity allegations involving other celebrities.
