An embarrassing record spanning 12 years! Zhang Zhenlin scores 16 against his former team as Liaoning falls to Shanghai, suffering a fourth consecutive defeat.

On December 31st Beijing time, during the CBA regular season, Shanghai defeated Liaoning away from home by 91-65, achieving a five-game winning streak and causing Liaoning to suffer their fourth loss in a row. This is Liaoning’s first four-game skid since December 2013.

Shanghai’s Zhang Zhenlin scored 16 points, Yan Pengfei contributed 16 points and 2 blocks, Wang Zhelin had 14 points and 7 rebounds, Fogg added 12 points, and Goodwin scored 10; for Liaoning, Zhang Chen Zhifeng posted 15 points and 7 rebounds, Fu Hao had 11 points, and Wells contributed 11 points with 4 assists.

In the first quarter, Goodwin made an easy layup, Li Hongquan scored under the basket; Jiang Yuxing floated a shot inside, Brown hit a mid-range jumper, tying the score at 4-all. In the second quarter, Yan Pengfei drove to score, Zhang Zhenlin completed a 2+1 play under the basket, extending Shanghai’s lead to 33-22. Yan’s mid-range shot went in again, Whiteside made an easy layup, Lofton hit a mid-range jumper, Wang Zhelin scored an easy put-back, Goodwin fired from outside, Wang Zhelin threw down a dunk under the basket, Li Hongquan drained a three-pointer, and Shanghai grew stronger on the court, leading 52-34 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Wang Zhelin grabbed points under the basket, Zhang Zhenlin nailed an open three-pointer, Wang Zhelin scored a hook shot inside, helping Shanghai build a massive 21-point lead at 59-38. Whiteside scored with a floater under the basket, Yan Pengfei hit a mid-range shot, Fogg completed a 2+1 play, and Yan’s jump shot also went in, allowing Shanghai to close the quarter ahead 71-50.

In the final quarter, Zhang Zhenlin continued scoring under the basket, Fogg hit two consecutive three-pointers from outside, Yan Pengfei aggressively scored 6 points inside, helping Shanghai pull away to an 89-61 lead. The remaining game held no suspense, as Shanghai smoothly secured the victory.
