Forbes reporter Sidery reports:The Thunder intend to trade Giang (contract year, $6.78 million salary) plus a first-round pick to bring in an experienced veteran.

Giang, born May 21, 2003, standing 2.06 meters tall, a forward and the 11th overall pick in the 2022 draft, has consistently performed mediocrely with little impact; this season he averages 4.4 points and 1.8 rebounds—rarely seen that the Thunder fail to develop such a high draft pick.

40-year-old Paul: Veteran? Just call my name directly.

LeBron turning 41: Hold on, Brother Paul, step back a bit.

On a serious note,As the defending champions, the Thunder currently hold a 28-5 record, topping both the Western Conference and the entire league. They lead with an average of 107.9 points allowed per game and a defensive efficiency of 105.0, rank second in scoring at 122.1 points per game, fifth in offensive efficiency at 118.8, and third in true shooting percentage at 60.9%, among other stats. They are clearly strong on both ends of the floor, and their dominance is no accident.

If one were to nitpick, the Thunder’s shooting could improve; so far, they average 13.6 made three-pointers per game (15th in the league) with a 36.8% three-point shooting percentage (8th in the league). Therefore, acquiring a sharpshooter via trade could address this weakness.

Thompson, at 35 years old, is certainly a veteran with four championship rings and plenty of experience. Although no longer at his peak, he still possesses strong outside shooting threat. This season, earning $16.67 million, he averages 11.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, hitting 2.7 three-pointers per game on 35.4% shooting.

Being traded to the Thunder would be a great opportunity for Thompson as it would finally give him a real chance to prove he can win a championship without the Warriors.

If the Mavericks can acquire a first-round pick from the Thunder in exchange for Thompson, they would likely accept eagerly. Currently sitting 12th in the West with a 12-22 record, they have long planned to rebuild around their new number one pick, Flagler. The NBA trade deadline this season is February 6, 2026, Beijing time.
