A fortunate turn of events! It has been revealed that Jokic's left knee injury is not serious, with the best-case scenario being a 1-2 week rest period.

On December 30th Beijing time, Serbian outlet Meridian Sport reported that Denver Nuggets star Jokic managed to evade a serious injury to his left knee.

Reporter Djordje Matic referenced optimistic information from sources inside the Nuggets in his report, verifying that Jokic did not suffer a severe injury.

During the Nuggets' game against the Heat, Jokic’s teammate Spencer Jones accidentally stepped on his foot while moving backward, causing Jokic's knee to hyperextend. Jokic immediately fell to the floor clutching his knee and, after urgent treatment from the team medical staff, limped back to the locker room. Initially listed as "questionable to return," he was ultimately ruled out for the second half.

At the post-game press conference, Nuggets head coach David Adelman confirmed that Jokic would undergo an MRI scan the following day, after which the team would release an official injury update likely including his recovery timetable. Reports indicate that his knee did not sustain serious damage.

So far in the 2025-26 NBA regular season, Jokic continues to dominate the league. He has recorded 16 of the league’s 59 triple-doubles, accounting for nearly 30% of all triple-doubles. Over 32 games this season, he is averaging 29.6 points, 12.2 rebounds, 11.0 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game, strongly contending for his fourth regular season MVP award.

Currently, the Nuggets hold a 22-10 record, ranking third in the Western Conference. Medical experts previously analyzed Jokic’s injury, suggesting he is very likely to avoid a serious setback but may still suffer a bone bruise. The best outcome would be a 1-2 week absence. If this assessment proves accurate, Jokic should be able to participate in the All-Star game and won’t miss out on awards due to insufficient games played.
