On December 28th Beijing time, Mavericks reporter Avses reported that besides the Warriors, the Raptors and Hawks are also interested in acquiring Davis. Whether Davis ultimately stays with the Mavericks or is traded to a new team, this 32-year-old star is expected to seek a lucrative long-term extension after becoming eligible for renewal this August. Reporters Haynes and Fischer have also confirmed this information.

Davis's career has been plagued by injuries, and he is currently dealing with a groin strain. Initially listed as questionable for today's game against the Kings, he was later confirmed to be out. Kidd commented on Davis's absence, saying, "Hopefully, he won't be sidelined for too long."
Haynes previously reported that the Warriors are considering a trade package to try to acquire Davis. However, he also noted that the Mavericks are not satisfied with the assets the Warriors can offer, so if the Warriors truly want to pursue this star big man, a third team may need to be involved. Haynes added that even if Davis cannot be acquired, the Warriors still aim to bring in a strong defensive center before the February trade deadline.
The Hawks are "very interested" in the possibility of trading for Davis. In another report, Avses analyzed the Hawks' potential interest in the 10-time All-Star, writing that insiders believe the Hawks might be willing to make significant roster changes to break out of their recent slump—the team is currently on a five-game losing streak and has a 2-9 record in December.

Avses pointed out that the Hawks could offer trade assets including Porzingis (a $30.7 million expiring contract), Kennard (a $11 million expiring contract), and Richaun Holmes (in his second year of a rookie contract, earning $13.2 million). The combined salaries of these players closely match Davis's $54.1 million salary this season, which is one reason the Hawks are considered a potential landing spot. In this scenario, the Mavericks would likely add one or two smaller contracts to keep the team's total salary below the luxury tax threshold.
Avses also mentioned that after signing a one-year deal with the Hawks this summer, Kennard has not met the team's expectations. In yesterday's loss to the Miami Heat, the veteran guard experienced his first DNP (Did Not Play) of his career.
