The Warriors are preparing for a trade! They have inquired about Michael Porter Jr. from the Nets, and Damian Lillard is a potential trade target for the Trail Blazers.

As reported on December 27th Beijing time by insider Sidery, the Warriors have reached out to the Nets about a possible trade for Michael Porter Jr. The Bucks and Pistons have also engaged with the Nets on this matter. The Nets seem willing to consider trade proposals for Porter, particularly those that feature potential talent and draft assets.

This season, Porter has delivered the best performance of his career with the Nets, attracting attention from several teams. So far this season, Porter has played 24 games for the Nets, averaging 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 49.1% and a three-point accuracy of 40.1%.

Additionally, the Warriors are looking to strengthen their frontcourt. According to the latest report from insider Siegel, which aligns with information from veteran reporter Haynes, the Warriors have identified several frontcourt players known for their cutting and finishing abilities as potential targets. These include the Mavericks’ Dwight Powell, the Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard, and the Nets’ Jarrett Allen.

The report states that the Warriors are specifically seeking players who can improve the team’s rebounding and shot-blocking, as their current inside scoring and overall rebounding rank among the league’s lowest.

Regarding Damian Lillard, insider Sidery noted that before the trade deadline, the Trail Blazers are open to offers involving Lillard. He is on a $13.3 million contract this season, which is expiring soon, and he could immediately strengthen a championship-contending team’s center rotation. The Trail Blazers currently have Klingen and Yang Hansheng at the five position, and Lillard is no longer part of their long-term plans.

Several Trail Blazers media outlets previously reported that if Lillard is not traded, Yang Hansheng will struggle to get meaningful playing time. This has been confirmed, as Yang has mostly only played in games where Lillard is resting. So far this season, Lillard averages 6.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game, with a shooting percentage of 69.3%.

Warriors General Manager Bob Donnelly stated in an interview that the team will try to make trades to improve the roster but is unlikely to make a blockbuster deal like last season’s trade for Butler.
