Defending MLB champion Los Angeles Dodgers could make another move to bolster the roster? Media reports say they have plans to get Kyle Tucker, who is out of contract, this winter.
According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Dodgers plan to join the race for Cubs outfielder Tucker this winter.
Tucker, 28, plays for the Chicago Cubs this season and is currently batting 0.269/0.379/0.531 in three sizes, hitting 10 home runs and contributing 32 RBIs in 41 games, with an overall attack index (OPS) of 0.910.
Looking back at Tucker's career, he played for the Houston Astros in his first seven seasons, accumulating 633 games and hitting 125 home runs. From 2022 to 2024, he was selected for the All-Star Game for 3 consecutive years, and won 1 Golden Glove Award and 1 Silver Bat Award. This offseason, the Astros were worried that they would not be able to offer Tucker a contract that would satisfy them, so they traded him to the Chicago Cubs on a "one-for-three" basis.
Tucker is expected to sign a contract worth about $500 million after becoming a free agent this winter, according to Spotrac's estimates, and while the Dodgers may not have the budget of other potential contenders, they are expected to play a similar role in the race for Soto and avoid random bids from teams.
