Spring training has begun, and Alex Bregman is still thinking about which team he will play for this season. However, according to ESPN's Buster Olney, the third baseman "may" make a decision soon and sign with one of the Cubs, Red Sox or Tigers.
Notably, the Houston Astros weren't mentioned, and it's unlikely they'll re-sign the longtime team-playing third baseman.
Olney noted that if the Cubs sign Bregeman, it will likely be a short-term contract, similar to the one Cody Bellinger signed before last season. However, MLB.com's Mark Feinsand and USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that Bregman had no interest in short-term contracts.
If the Cubs fail to sign Bugman, they may turn to signing 40-year-old veteran third baseman Justin Turner.
As spring training unfolds, Bregman's decision will be in focus, and his selection could have a significant impact on the competitive landscape.
