Tribute to Shohei Ohtani! MLB Network will launch a full-day special program on January 7th

The MLB Network channel in the United States will air a special tribute program called "Shohei Day" on January 7th (US time) to honor Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani. The broadcast is scheduled to run all day starting at 9 AM Eastern Time (10 PM Beijing Time the same day).

This channel-wide special event draws inspiration from Ohtani’s jersey number "17." The program will focus on his unique two-way role as both pitcher and hitter, featuring iconic moments from his career, including multiple game replays, specially recorded studio shows, guest interviews, and a two-hour highlight special titled "Best of Shohei." Related content will also be shared across MLB Network’s various shows and social media platforms simultaneously.

At the heart of the programming will be replays of key classic games from Ohtani’s career, such as the September 19, 2024 game where he became the first player in MLB history to reach the “50 home runs and 50 stolen bases” milestone, and Game 4 of the 2025 National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers—where he not only struck out 10 batters but also hit three home runs in three at-bats, delivering an extraordinary performance.

On that day, the shows "Hot Stove" and "MLB Tonight" will also feature special segments analyzing and telling stories about Ohtani. Hosts will revisit his career-defining moments during the "Greg’s List" segment, while analyst Chris Young will provide an in-depth breakdown of how Ohtani has gradually become "the defining superstar of this era."
