The China Baseball City League warm-up games have begun! The broadcast quality is relatively rough, and the level of play is not very high.

The China Baseball City League (CPB) will officially launch on New Year's Day next year, with a warm-up match yesterday featuring the Xiamen Dolphins against the Shenzhen Blue Socks. Yet, fans observed errors in the broadcast commentary and found the scorecard display to be somewhat "odd." Additionally, shockingly, a player gave an offensive "middle finger" gesture to the live camera during the video replay challenge. At the same time, viewers felt that the overall league standard did not appear to be very high.

According to the CPB official broadcast scorecard, its display method differs from the conventions used in professional baseball leagues worldwide. For example, during the mid-5th inning break, CPB showed the current score but preemptively displayed zeros for innings 6 through 9, making it look as if the full nine innings had already been played. Moreover, the home and away team scorecards, which are usually placed at the "bottom" and "top" respectively, were reversed in CPB's display. This caused situations like "Shenzhen Blue Socks 4:8 Xiamen Dolphins, but the game is still in the bottom of the 9th inning." In reality, Shenzhen Blue Socks are the home team, so their name should appear at the "bottom."

The China Baseball City League warm-up match took place, and the live footage showed that the crowd attendance was not very large, but a whole front row of cheerleaders wearing white hoodies stood out prominently. Some viewers also noted that former CPBL retired cheerleader "Xiaoxiao" seemed to be among the supporters.

After the game started, although the broadcast looked somewhat professional, it was clearly not very polished. Besides official broadcast errors, even when fans pointed out mistakes in the comments section, none were corrected by the end of the match. Additionally, the CPB official scorecards seemed to have their own unique style: not only were the home and away teams displayed inverted, but innings that had not yet been played also showed a "0," which could easily mislead viewers into thinking the game was over.

Furthermore, although CPB’s broadcast included a "video replay" system allowing teams to challenge critical umpire decisions to improve accuracy, there was an incident where a base runner, during a pause for a challenge, smiled and gave the live camera an obscene "middle finger" gesture. This sparked heated discussion online, with many commenting, "Even if it’s meant as a joke, there should be some education about this during live broadcasts!"
