Kazuma Okamoto traveled to the United States to meet with multiple teams.

MLB's official site, referencing Japan Yahoo, reports that NPB standout Kazuma Okamoto has arrived in the U.S. to hold face-to-face meetings with various MLB clubs as the posting negotiation period approaches its end.

The deadline for negotiations between Okamoto and MLB teams is January 4th, U.S. time. Hence, to make his major league debut in 2026, he needs to finalize a deal in the coming days.

During this offseason, he has been linked with several teams including the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Angels, Pittsburgh Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, and Boston Red Sox.

The 29-year-old powerful infielder has been a longtime key player for the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants. In 69 games during the 2025 season, he posted an impressive .327 batting average, 15 home runs, 49 RBIs, and a 1.014 OPS.
