Following the end of SEA Games 33, Vietnam’s number one female badminton athlete Nguyễn Thùy Linh came back to the country and promptly entered the preparation phase for her early 2026 international tournaments.
After finishing SEA Games 33, Vietnam’s leading female badminton player Nguyễn Thùy Linh returned home and swiftly started preparing for the international competition calendar at the beginning of 2026.
According to the coaching staff of the Vietnamese badminton team, Thùy Linh is currently focusing on physical training and refining her skills in Vietnam before departing for major tournaments in January.
The first event Nguyễn Thùy Linh has registered for in the new year is the 2026 India Open Badminton Tournament, held from January 13 to 18. This tournament is part of the BWF World Tour Super 750, a high-level event in the global badminton circuit, attracting many top players.
At the recent SEA Games 33, Nguyễn Thùy Linh did not achieve the expected results, exiting early in the women's singles and failing to secure a medal. After the competition in Thailand, the 1997-born player returned to Vietnam earlier than some teammates to focus on preparing for upcoming goals.
The coaching team considers the early 2026 period crucial for stabilizing performance and improving the international ranking of Vietnam's leading female badminton player.
Currently, Nguyễn Thùy Linh is ranked 22nd in the world. In 2025, she climbed to 17th globally thanks to a series of positive results in international competitions.
However, she has yet to claim a championship title in BWF World Tour events at the Super 300 level or above. This remains a key goal for both the coaching staff and Thùy Linh herself in the upcoming competition phase.
In addition to the India Open, Nguyễn Thùy Linh plans to participate in another international tournament in January 2026 in Indonesia, part of the BWF World Tour Super 500 level.
