King Cup 2025 will take place from December 26 to 28 in Tianjin, China. This special event is organized by the world badminton legend Lin Dan and is not part of the BWF circuit.

This marks the second year the King Cup has been held, serving as an exciting year-end event for badminton fans worldwide amid the conclusion of the 2025 BWF World Tour season. This year’s tournament features 8 top-quality players, specifically:

• Shi Yuqi (world number 1)
• Anders Antonsen (world number 3)
• Kento Momota (former world number 1)
• Jonatan Christie (world number 4)
• Alex Lanier (world number 8)
• Jason Teh Jia Heng (world number 21)
• Victor Lai (world number 22)
• Liu Yang Ming Yu (world’s number 3 junior, 2025 World Junior Champion)

Players will compete in a knockout format starting from the quarterfinals to determine the champion. Additionally, there will be some exhibition matches interspersed. The scoring follows the current official badminton rules. Yonex AS50 shuttlecocks will be used in the tournament.

Most notably, the tournament offers a huge prize pool for participants. The 2025 King Cup winner will receive 1.2 million RMB (about 4.5 billion VND), a personalized engraved throne along with the trophy, while the runner-up will earn 650,000 RMB (around 2.5 billion VND).

The reigning King Cup champion is Anders Antonsen, who won 2-1 (18-21; 21-11; 21-18) against the young Chinese talent Hu Zhean in the 2024 final.
